The Conference’s Opening Ceremonies will take place on Sunday, July 24th at 7:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom on Level 2 of the World Trade Convention Centre. The evening will feature exciting entertainment, and will be a great chance to catch-up with old friends, make some new ones, and get ready for the week ahead!

The night will begin with a traditional Aboriginal welcome by Canadian Mi’kmaq Elder Albert Marshall, who will describe the balance of Indigenous and Western worldviews on science and technology and the integration of both for a holistic way to care for the natural environment.

Our keynote speaker will be Richard Gelfond, CEO of IMAX Corporation. Mr. Gelfond was recently named to the Vanity Fair New Establishment 100, recognizing the 100 most influential people in the media industry worldwide. He will share his own personal experiences with the health effects of mercury exposure.

Throughout the evening, there will be an eclectic mix of entertainment. Set to perform are Inuit Throat Singers Becky Mearns and Annie Aningmiuq. Providing the ultimate blend of Celtic meets Funk is Richard Wood, a celebrated fiddler from Prince Edward Island, and Halifax-born trumpeter Mike Cowie.

Following the ceremonies, there will be a reception adjacent to the Grand Ballroom. Please make sure you join us for this enjoyable kick-off to the 10th ICMGP!
